Sir Sobha Singh Trust to sponsor poor children at Pinegrove
8/27/2025 9:34:02 PM

early times report

Jammu, Aug 27: Pinegrove School, is proud to announce a meaningful scholarship announced by the Sir Sobha Singh Public Charitable Trust, under the aegis of Mr. Perminder Singh and his daughter Ms. Amba Singh, an accomplished Special Educator in New York, both distinguished alumni of The Lawrence School, Sanawar.
Through this collaboration, the Trust will sponsor the residential school education of two deserving children from economically weaker sections of Himachal Pradesh.
One child is an HP Flood-victim’s orphaned daughter, who was orphaned in the horrific Mandir tragedy of 2023 in Shimla. The other is a poor Govt school girl-child from Solan District.
This sponsorship will cover tuition, boarding, lodging and associated educational expenses for two students, expected to be for a decade, thus ensuring them access to Pinegrove’s holistic, high-quality education. In addition, the Trust has expressed interest in supporting uniform costs for other girls from the EWS category, and other orphaned children enrolled at the school.
Executive Director Capt. AJ Singh expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Trust, stating, “This generous gesture will not only transform the lives of the two selected children but will also bring lasting impact to their families and their village communities. We deeply value the Trust’s commitment to empowering young minds through education.”
The school is deeply committed to this social responsibility. It educates orphans of Himachal Pradesh under the Mukhya Mantri Sukh Aashray Yojna 2023, is recognized as a Government of Sikkim-approved Scholarship School since 2012, and has been offering education to many Govt School girls, from Solan district since 2016 through the sponsorship of Mrs Alka Puri and Mr Bharat Puri, CEO of Pidilite industries. Incidentally, Mr Bharat Puri, is on the TATA Board and is also an Old Sanawarian, known for his philanthropic and benevolent temperament.
This collaboration reinforces Sir Sobha Singh Trust and Pinegrove School’s mission of creating lasting, positive change through targeted philanthropic partnerships.
