Jammu, Sept 11: The Department of Home Science, GCW Gandhi Nagar, organized a series of activities on 11th September, 2025 to mark National Nutrition Week and Poshan Maah Celebrations with great enthusiasm. The highlights were the Power Salad Competition, where around 32 students participated, showcasing a wide variety of innovative, nutritious, and creative salads. The competition aimed at promoting healthy eating habits and the importance of balanced diets in daily life. Adding to the vibrancy of the program, students presented Nukkad Natak performances on themes of social and nutritional significance. Group 1 staged “Rakt Hai to Jaan Hai”, emphasizing the value of blood and health awareness, while Group 2 presented “Roz ki Thali, Millets Wali”, spreading the message of incorporating millets into everyday meals as part of a sustainable and healthy diet. The Power Salad Competition was expertly judged by esteemed Jury Members, Dr. Archana Bakshi (HoD, English), Dr. Shradha Anand (Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry), and Dr. Monika Hans (Head, Department of FST). Their guidance and evaluation added great value to the competition. The occasion was graced and successfully guided by Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra (Principal, PSPS GCW Gandhi Nagar) whose leadership and encouragement inspired both students and faculty alike. The program was organized under the able leadership of Dr. Shivani Sawhney, Head of Department of Home Science, along with faculty members Prof. Vishav Deepika, Dr. Archana Bhat, Dr. Iesha Sharma, and Dr. Arpana Langeh. After an impressive display of creativity and nutrition knowledge, the following groups emerged as winners of the Power Salad Competition - First Prize – Group 2 comprised of Anjana Thakur and Shruti Megwan, Second Prize - Group 4 comprised of Sanamdeep Kour and Saniya Chowdhary and Third Prize- Group 13 comprised of Priya chowdhary and Manvi Aggarwal . Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra (Principal, PSPS GCW Gandhi Nagar) appreciated the enthusiasm and creativity of the participants, stating that “Such activities not only showcase the talent and innovation of our students but also create awareness about the importance of healthy lifestyles and nutrition. The dedication of our faculty and the active participation of students reflect the spirit of Poshan Maah and the vision of a healthier tomorrow.” The celebration concluded with the distribution of certificates and mementos, and heartfelt thanks were extended to all participants, jury members, faculty, non-teaching staff, and students who contributed to making the event a grand success.
