Red Ribbon Club volunteers visit Home for Aged, Infirm | | |  early times report
Jammu, Sep 18: In continuation of the activities taken under the Seva Prav Program by the College, the Red Ribbon Club of GGM Science College, Jammu organized a compassionate visit to the Home for the Aged and Infirm, Amphalla, Jammu. The initiative was carried out under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal of the College, and was supervised by Dr. Rozy Bamba, Convener, Red Ribbon Club accompanied by Dr. Sunita, Dr. Nisha and Dr. Poonam. A group of dedicated student volunteers spent the day interacting with the elderly residents, sharing warm conversations, and extending care. They also offered assistance in small daily tasks, bringing moments of joy and comfort to the aged. The visit not only highlighted the value of empathy and service but also provided students with meaningful exposure beyond their academic life. The experience enabled students to understand the importance of community service, instilling in them a sense of social responsibility. It also helped them reflect on values of compassion, respect for elders, and the need to care for the most vulnerable sections of society. While interacting with the volunteers, on the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta appreciated the initiative, and added that, the Red Ribbon Club has always been at the forefront of nurturing a culture of service, care, and social awareness among students. Such visits prepare our youth to be sensitive citizens, ready to contribute positively to society.
