NSS Volunteers celebrates International Day of Sign Languages | | | early times report
Jammu, Sept 28: The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) Katra celebrated the International Sign Language Day with enthusiasm and awareness building activities. The day is celebrated to raise awareness about the importance of sign language and promote the rights of deaf and dumb persons. It reminds us that everyone should have a chance to communicate and be understood. On this occasion, NSS volunteer Ms. Tanisha sharma addressed the gathering and briefed the audience about the basic rules of Indian Sign Language (ISL). The session was highly interactive with active participation from the audience. Participants not only gained insights into the structure of ISL but also learned various basic signs used in everyday communication. The initiative reflected the University's commitment to spreading awareness and fostering sensitivity towards special persons in society.
