Infiltration bid foiled along LoC, 2 terrorists killed | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Sept 28: Security forces today foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran sector of Kupwara district, killing two infiltrators, official sources said. The incident took place when troops noticed suspicious movement in the forest belt near the LoC. “They were challenged and opened fire, triggering a gunfight. Two infiltrators have been killed and a combing operation is underway,” an officer said. The identity and group affiliation of the slain are yet to be ascertained. Army and police have so far not issued any official statement on the operation. The infiltration attempt comes a day after Inspector General of BSF Kashmir Frontier, Ashok Yadav, warned that launching pads across Kupwara, Bandipora and Baramulla continue to host militants. He cautioned that the next two months remain sensitive along the LoC until snowfall blocks mountain passes. The BSF officer also said two infiltration bids have already been foiled this year and reiterated that forces are fully prepared to deal with any attempts. |
