Dir Agri visits farms at Padgampora, Sirhama | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Sept 28: The Director Agriculture Kashmir Sartaj Ahmad Shah today visited Seed Multiplication Farm Padgampora Pulwama where he took reviewed the progress on preparations of stock, supply and distribution of seeds to the farming community. He visited different sections of the farm and reviewed the various interventions. Besides, he also visited lavender farm at Sirhama where he held an interactive session with the technical experts and concerned officers of the farm. Speaking on the occasion, the Director highlighted the economic importance of the lavender crop and said that it is one of the best cash crops in the world. He said the demand for quality planting material of lavender has increased over the years and efforts are on to attract progressive agriculture entrepreneurs towards this aromatic crop. He said that the departmental farms are the assets with the department and have an inevitable role to play amid the changing global agriculture scenario. Our immediate goal is to achieve the self-reliance in seed requirement of different Agricultural crops in the region and the departmental seed Multiplication Farms are the main resources to reach this ambitious goal, he added. He urged concerned officers & technical experts to work on a mission mode so that all the set targets viz a via assured availability of quality seeds to the farming community could be reached successfully. Director Agriculture was accompanied by Deputy Director( central) Qazi Showkat, Chief Agriculture Officer Waheed Ur Rehmaan and some senior officers of the department. |
