GGM Science College, DIPR Jammu celebrates Seva Parv with powerful nukad natak

Jammu, Sept 30: In connection with the ongoing Seva Parv programme, the Cultural Committee of GGM Science College, Jammu, in collaboration with the Cultural Wing of the Department of Information & Public Relations (DIPR), Jammu, organized a thought-provoking Nukkad Natak (street play) on the theme “Seva Parv.”
The programme highlighted vital issues of social responsibility, pollution control, legal safeguards, and the enduring value of selfless service. The play was presented by the talented artists of Nav Durga Kala Manch that includes Mr. Shazi Khan, Rakesh Dogra, Rinku Sharma, Taiba Anjum, Tushar Sharma, Sheetal Kalotra, Purvi Kalsi, and Sahil Hansraj Kataria, whose impactful performance creatively conveyed messages of empathy, duty, and community spirit.
The event was graced by Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal of the College, as the Chief Guest, along with senior faculty member of the College Dr. Vandna Khajuria and Dr. Ashaq Hussain (Associate Dean ClUJ). Earlier in her welcome address, Dr. Asha Sharmahal extended greetings to the dignitaries and participants, highlighting the importance of cultural expression as a medium of social awareness.
Organized under the able guidance of Cultural Officers Mr. Suresh Sharma and Mr. Balbir Singh, the event received strong support from the College Cultural Committee comprising Dr. Yasmeen Mughal (Convenor), Dr. Revika Arora, Dr. Pankaj Mansotra, Dr. Asha Sharmal, Dr. Nisha, Prof. Reetika, Dr. Arti Heer, and Prof. Sheraz Kousar. Other faculty members present included Prof. Sunita Kumari, Dr. Amit K. Bali, and Dr. Muzzafar.
In his address, Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta lauded the joint efforts of DIPR, Nav Durga Kala Manch, and the College’s Cultural Committee for organizing such meaningful initiatives. He emphasized that street theatre remains one of the most powerful tools to connect with society and inspire youth towards nation-building. The performance received an enthusiastic response from students, faculty, and the wider audience. Conducted with discipline and creativity, the event successfully spread awareness on empathy, legal safeguards, and environmental care, while keeping the institution’s academic rhythm undisturbed.
