Chandigarh, Sept 30: The Victory Against Drug Abuse (VADA) Club of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women organised an insightful awareness session on ‘Digital Wellness and Addiction-Free Life’. The session featured BK Sister Neha, a distinguished speaker from Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya, as the resource person.
In her address, Sister Neha highlighted both the advantages and challenges of digital technology while drawing attention to the growing prevalence of lifestyle-related addictions such as excessive junk food consumption, drug abuse, sleep disorders, and dependence on digital devices. She observed that in today’s fast-paced, material-driven world, individuals often overlook self-care and meaningful relationships. Urging students to remain goal-oriented, she stressed the importance of mental and physical well-being, and advocated adopting practices such as positive thinking, self-control, meditation, and spirituality as foundations of a balanced life. The session also brought to light critical health concerns faced by the youth- including depression, obesity, hypertension, and diabetes, that are often triggered by unhealthy lifestyle choices. Sister Neha encouraged students to replace detrimental habits with constructive ones in order to break the cycle of addiction. The session concluded with an interactive discussion and a brief meditation practice.
Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma underscored the need to use technology judiciously and avoid the pitfalls of digital addiction. She reiterated that drug abuse is a grave social issue that impedes the progress of the nation and must be collectively addressed under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. |
