Vijaypur, Sept 30: Government Degree College (GDC), Vijaypur, under various Clubs like Yuva Mission, Unnat Bharat & Shikshit Bharat as part of the ongoing celebrations under the aegis of “Sewa Parv” successfully conducted a literacy event “Meet the Author”, aimed at promoting regional literature and encouraging student engagement with authors and scholars. The session was held under the able guidance of Dr. Ashu Vashisht, Principal of the College, who in her address encouraged the students to make the best use of such opportunities. The distinguished guest for the event was Dr. Manoj Heer, Assistant Professor in the Department of Dogri, a renowned academic and literary figure in the field of Dogri language and literature. Dr. Heer has significantly contributed to the promotion of Dogri through his extensive body of work, which includes numerous books, research articles, news articles and journal publications. During the session, Dr. Heer interacted with the students and provided valuable insights into his writing journey, the nuances of Dogri literature, and the importance of preserving regional languages. His address was both enlightening and motivational, sparking curiosity and interest among students toward creative writing and literary pursuits. The event was part of GDC Vijaypur’s continued efforts to cultivate a vibrant academic and cultural environment, encouraging students to engage with literary personalities and explore regional literary heritage.
