SKUAST-Jammu ink the MoU with Kangwon National University, South Korea for Global Academic Exchange | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 30: The academic landscape of Jammu and Kashmir is set for a significant global boost following the signing of a pivotal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) and Kangwon National University (KNU) of Chuncheon, South Korea. The landmark agreement, formalized by Prof. (Dr.) B.N. Tripathi, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu and the Prof. Jeong Jaeyeon, President of Kangwon National University, Chuncheon, South Korea aims to foster robust collaboration in key areas including to promote academic and educational exchanges, faculties and students exchange program and joint research programs. Prof. Sung-Jin Lee, Dean, College of Animal Life Sciences and Prof. Junghoon Choi, Dean, College of Veterinary Medicine from Kangwon National University and Prof. Neelesh Sharma, from SKUAST-Jammu were also present during this ceremony. Kangwon National University (KNU) is largest university in the South Korea and established in the 1947. It provides the platform to more than 2000 international students from different countries. KNU having 18 colleges, 63 departments, 10 post-graduate schools and 55 research institutes with 31500 students and 1950 faculty and staff. Speaking at the signing ceremony, Prof. (Dr.) B.N. Tripathi, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu emphasized the transformative potential of the partnership. Prof. Tripathi stated that this MoU with Kangwon National University is a momentous stride in our journey towards internationalizing agricultural education and research. It opens vital channels for our faculty and students to gain global exposure, adopt best practices from a technologically advanced nation like South Korea and collaborate on solutions to shared challenges like food security and climate change. Prof. Tripathi highlighted the status of livestock, livestock products and livestock diseases in India and its significance in self-reliance India. He also discussed about achievements of the SKUAST-Jammu and scope of faculties and students exchange and emphasized for the International internship of Veterinary, Agriculture, Horticulture, Biotechnology students under this MoU between two universities. Prof. Tripathi visited the various colleges and departments of the KNU and met with different Dean's of the colleges for possible research collaborations. The MoU establishes a framework for direct cooperation intending to leverage the complementary strengths of the two institutions-SKUAST-Jammu, a leader in Himalayan agricultural science and KNU, one of South Korea's premier national universities with strong research capabilities.
