Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Sept 30: Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Jammu and Kashmir Branch Office (JKBO), in collaboration with the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Kashmir, organized the Stakeholders' Conclave 2025 as part of the upcoming celebrations of World Standards Day (WSD) 2025. More than 300 participants enthusiastically took part in the conclave. Dr. Owais Ahmad (IAS), Director, FCS&CA Kashmir, graced the event as the Chief Guest. In his address, he emphasized the importance of standards in daily life, stating that "standards are the backbone of quality, safety, and reliability, and their adoption is crucial for the welfare of consumers." The conclave witnessed participation from senior officials of the Directorate of FCS&CA including Saheen Khan, Joint Director; Mohd Rafeek, Deputy Director (Administration); and Arjumand Yaqub, Deputy Director (Supplies). Speaking on the occasion, Pankaj Atri, Joint Director, BIS-JKBO, underlined the role of BIS in creating a culture of standardization. He said, "BIS is committed to ensuring that consumers get quality products and services, and such initiatives help in building trust between industry and consumers." He also urged participants to download and demonstrate the BIS Care App, which allows consumers to verify ISI-marked products and hallmarked jewellery with ease. Highlighting this year's theme of World Standards Day, "SDG-17: Partnerships for the Goals", he reiterated the importance of collaborative efforts in strengthening quality infrastructure. The conclave was also attended by officers of the Food Safety Department and Mr. Ashish Kumar Dwivedi, Standard Promotion Officer, BIS-JKBO, who shared BIS outreach and awareness initiatives aimed at promoting consumer rights and safe practices. |
