Udhampur, Oct 1: Continuing its drive against narco-smuggling, Udhampur Police recovered contraband poppy straw at Naka Point, Motor Shed NHW Chenani.
During routine traffic/naka checking, a white-colored Honda Amaze taxi bearing registration No. UP65FT-6902 was stopped by the police team of PS Chenani, led by its SHO.
On checking the passengers and their luggage, a sky-blue suitcase and a dark-blue bag belonging to passenger Kuldeep Singh S/o Surjit Singh, R/o Lattianwal, District Kapurthala, Punjab were found in the vehicle’s trunk.
Upon thorough checking, both bags were discovered to contain contraband poppy straw, weighing a total of 19.79 kg.
In this connection, Case FIR No. 95/2025 under Sections 8/15 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Chenani, and investigation is underway.
