Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 15: The Shri Ram Universal School Jammu, under the patronage of the Sahodaya Schools Complex, Jammu Chapter, organized an inter-school competition titled "Shri Srijan - Turning Waste into Wonders," themed "Unveiling Human Footprints Behind Floods." The event aimed to raise awareness about the environmental consequences of human activities while encouraging students to showcase their creativity through sustainable model-making. Twelve reputable schools from the Jammu region participated in the competition, presenting innovative models crafted from waste and recyclable materials. Each exhibit reflected the students' understanding of human-induced environmental degradation and their commitment to proposing eco-friendly solutions for flood management and disaster mitigation. The event began with a formal welcome address by Principal Sonika Mahajan, who warmly greeted the participating schools, esteemed guests, and judges while emphasizing the school's commitment to sustainability and experiential learning. The program was honoured by the presence of Chief Guest Ms. Ekshu Sharma, a dynamic JKAS Officer serving as District Information Officer and Assistant Director of Handicrafts in Samba. She commended the students for their creativity, awareness, and responsible approach to environmental conservation. An esteemed panel of judges evaluated the competition, consisting of Mr. Vikas Khajuria, a National Sculptor, and Ms. Namrita Sharma, Zonal Nodal Officer for Samba. They appreciated the participants' ingenuity, artistic presentation, and thoughtful interpretation of the theme. The school management, including Chairman Mr. Sanjeev Gupta and Director Ms. Rajni Gupta, expressed their gratitude to all participating schools, teachers, and students for their enthusiastic contributions to the event's success. Jammu Sanskriti School, Kathua, secured the first position, followed by The Shri Ram Universal School in second place, and Jammu Sanskriti School, Jammu, clinched third place. Consolation prizes were awarded to APS Samba, APS Jammu Cantt, and Indian Kidzee School, Kathua. The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks presented by Ms. Shivani Vaid, Headmistress, who extended her heartfelt appreciation to the dignitaries, judges, management, teachers, and students for their collaborative efforts in making Shri Srijan 2025 a memorable celebration of innovation, sustainability, and learning. |
