10/15/2025 10:21:52 PM
Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, Oct 15: Police in Srinagar arrested three accused involved in the axe attack on a youth in a city locality yesterday.
Police said a youth, Noman Yaqoob Khanday, was attacked with an axe by unidentified assailants near Haroon Bakery at Hilal Abad, Qamarwari on October 14.
The victim’s father, Mohammad Yaqoob Khanday, a resident of Bilal Colony, Qamarwari, promptly reported the matter at Police Post Qamarwari. Upon receipt of the complaint, a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) – Sections 126(2), 115(2), and 109 – was registered at Police Station Parimpora.
Police said an intensive investigation was immediately launched, which included cordoning off suspected areas, collecting CCTV footage, and verifying vehicle details linked to the incident.
The probe led to the identification and subsequent arrest of three accused who were identified as Sahil Yaqoob Grustoo, Farooq alias Farhan Ahmad Dar and Bilal Ahmad Guroo, all residents of Boatman Colony, Bemina.
“All three were apprehended during overnight raids, and the weapon of offence has been recovered,” police said.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the assault stemmed from a personal grudge, though further inquiry is ongoing to determine other possible angles.
Police reiterated its firm commitment to taking prompt and decisive action against all forms of social crimes that threaten public peace and order.
“No leniency will be shown to those involved in such acts, and efforts will continue to ensure the city remains safe and secure,” police said.
