Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 8: In an effort to curb the menace of drug trafficking, Jammu Police, South Zone achieved a major success when Police Station Satwari foiled a narcotic smuggling attempt and apprehended two individuals with heroin-like substance, weapon (desi katta), live cartridges, cash, and other incriminating material during naka checking at Old Satwari near Hanuman Chowk. During routine naka duty, a police team led by PSI Karnail Singh, Incharge Police Post Chatha, under the supervision of SHO Police Station Satwari, SDPO City South Jammu, and overall supervision of SP City South Jammu, intercepted a white Swift car (Registration No. JK21L-1863) coming from Belicharana towards Chatha. On enquiry, the driver was identified as Sunny Kumar, S/o Harbans Lal, R/o Dabuj Kaka, Tehsil Ramgarh, District Samba, and the co-passenger as Jaspal Singh @ Deep Nagra, S/o Dallar Singh, R/o Nath Colony, Old Satwari, Jammu. Upon search, approximately 10 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from the possession of Jaspal Singh, while Sunny Kumar was found carrying a desi katta (country-made pistol) loaded with one live cartridge, along with two additional cartridges. Further search of the vehicle led to the recovery of Rs 21,590 in cash, one electronic weighing machine, and a sharp-edged weapon (toka). In this regard, FIR No. 222/2025 under sections 8/21/22/27-A/29 of the NDPS Act and 3/4/25 of the Arms Act stands registered at Police Station Satwari, and investigation has been set into motion. Jammu Police reiterate their firm resolve to root out the menace of narcotics and illegal arms from society through consistent enforcement, public cooperation, and enhanced vigilance to ensure a safe and drug-free Jammu. |
