| Doctor dismissed for terror links hired as Professor by Al-Falah University | | | Atul Sharma Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 12: Under the growing shadow of a national security investigation linked to the recently busted “White Coat Terror Module”, Haryana’s Al-Falah University is now facing fresh controversy over its hiring practices. The university has reportedly employed Dr. Nisar-ul-Hassan, the former president of the Doctors Association of Kashmir (DAK), who was earlier terminated from government service by the Jammu and Kashmir administration for alleged links with terrorist organisations. Located in Faridabad, Al-Falah University has already drawn attention from law enforcement and intelligence agencies after several doctors associated with it were arrested in connection with the terror module and the Red Fort blast case. The latest revelation about Dr. Nisar-ul-Hassan’s appointment has intensified scrutiny of the institution’s internal vetting mechanisms and possible institutional negligence. According to official documents accessed by a private television channel, Dr. Nisar-ul-Hassan was dismissed in 2023 under Article 311(2)(c) of the Constitution — a provision that allows the government to remove an employee from service without a departmental inquiry in cases involving threats to national security. Prior to his dismissal, Dr. Nisar-ul-Hassan served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) Hospital in Srinagar. The Jammu and Kashmir Government, on November 22, 2023, terminated four government employees for alleged involvement in anti-national and terror-related activities. Dr. Nisar-ul-Hassan, a vocal and controversial figure in Kashmir’s medical community for his provocative statements, had earlier been arrested under Sections 107 and 151 of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC) for his alleged involvement in anti-national activities but was later released on bail. The private TV investigation revealed that, despite his dismissal for security-related concerns, Al-Falah University subsequently appointed him as a Professor in its Department of Medicine. His name continues to appear on the university’s faculty roster. Founded in 2014, Al-Falah University is a private institution offering engineering, medical, and social science programs. The administration has categorically denied any association with terrorist organisations or extremist activities, asserting that it follows due diligence in all recruitment processes. However, with ongoing probes into the university’s alleged links to individuals under investigation for terror-related activities, the revelation about hiring a dismissed government doctor with a documented security record is expected to deepen the controversy. Both security agencies and regulatory bodies are now likely to intensify their inquiries into how such appointments were made and whether they violated any oversight or background verification norms. |
