| Cinema Can Help | | | Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha recently called on the filmmakers to showcase Jammu and Kashmir’s journey of transformation and peace. He exhorted the film-makers to come up with films, which narrate the ordeal of terror victims, expose ring leaders of the terror ecosystem and showcase the transformation after August 2019. There is no doubt about the fact that J&K has witnessed massive transformation during the past six years. People are reaping the benefits of peace but Pakistan and the terrorists sponsored by it are trying their best to derail the peace and prosperity J&K has been witnessing after 2019. It’s high time for people also to come forward and expose the enemies of peace by providing information about them to the police and security agencies, so that the entire terror ecosystem hiding behind the cover in the society is neutralised and a befitting reply is given to the evil intentions of the neighbouring country. The film makers can play a crucial role in highlighting how J&K has changed during all these years and the handful of elements who are trying to create disturbance stand isolated and cut off from the system. The cinema is one of the most powerful tools for shaping social narratives, fostering cultural unity, and promoting the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat. Besides asking filmmakers to showcase the J&K’s transformation, LG Sinha made a fervent appeal to all to eliminate every single terror element within the society to completely restore the peace and this effort requires the cooperation of all sections of the public. The people of the Union Territory are reaping the fruits of stability and peace. Development projects are no longer stalled by violence, investments are flowing in, and the sense of normalcy that once felt distant is now tangible. Yet, even as peace prevails, Pakistan and its proxies continue their desperate attempts to derail progress through sporadic acts of terror and propaganda. As the world’s eyes turn once again to Kashmir, the time is ripe for filmmakers to step forward and chronicle this transformation with honesty and artistry. Through their lens, they can show the world how J&K has emerged stronger after years of sacrifice and how a society once scarred by fear now pulses with hope. Peace has taken root in Jammu and Kashmir—cinema can help it blossom. |
