Early Times Report REASI, Nov 13: Continuing its sustained drive against drug abuse and trafficking, District Police Reasi achieved another success by foiling a narcotics smuggling attempt and recovering Heroin-like substance (Chitta) during a special naka checking operation near Shani Mandir, Nomain. On 12.11.2025 at around 2000 hours, a special naka was laid by Police near Shani Mandir, Nomain. During checking, one Scorpio (N -Series) vehicle bearing Registration No. JK02DG-5522 was intercepted. The vehicle was being driven by Rohan Joshi S/O Rajan Sharma R/O Rehari, District Jammu, who is an Engineer in Konkan Railways and presently posted at Railway Station Reasi. Upon thorough checking of the vehicle, police recovered approximately 2.460 grams of Heroin-like substance (Chitta) from his possession. In this regard, a case FIR No. 310/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Katra and the accused has been taken into custody. The vehicle used in the commission of the crime has also been seized. The entire operation was led by SHO P/S Katra Insp. Ranjeet Singh Rao, under the close supervision of SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubey, JKPS and SP Katra Vipan Chandran, JKPS. SSP Reasi Sh. Paramvir Singh, JKPS, lauded the alertness and swift action of the naka party. He reiterated that Reasi Police is fully committed to eradicate the menace of drugs from the district and appealed to the public to cooperate by sharing any information related to drug peddling or consumption in their areas.
