Drug peddler’s property attached

POONCH, Nov 13: In a major action under the ongoing drive against drug trafficking and illicit narco trade, Poonch Police has attached property belonging to a notorious drug peddler in the district.
Police Spokesperson in a statement, In connection with FIR No. 178/2025 registered at Police Station Poonch under sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act and Section 111 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the property belonging to Mohd Iqbal S/o Ghulam Nabi R/o Seri Khwaja A/P Kamsar has been attached by Poonch Police.
The attached property, standing in the name of his wife Shahnaz Kouser, consists of a three-storey building under construction, falling under Khasra No. 2093, measuring 10 marla, situated at Kamsar, with an approximate value of ₹1.11 crore, it reads. The action was carried out under the provisions of the NDPS Act and the competent Authority (SAFEMA) has also been duly informed, it reads.
This decisive action is aimed at striking at the financial roots of the drug trade and sending a strong message that individuals involved in narcotics trafficking will face stringent legal and financial consequences, it reads.
District Police Poonch reiterates its firm resolve to eradicate the menace of drugs from society and will continue to act firmly against peddlers and all those who aid or benefit from the proceeds of narcotics, it reads.
Police appeals to the general public to share any credible information regarding drug peddling or related activities in their areas. The identity of informants shall be kept strictly confidential, reads the statement.
