Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 15: Jammu Police have solved the shocking case of a man found burnt in the open fields near Ring Road, Prithvipur, in the jurisdiction of Police Station Miran Sahib. Three employees of the Irrigation Department have been arrested in connection with the incident as the investigation continues.
Addressing a press conference here, Senior Superintendent of Police- Jammu, Joginder Singh said, “On the morning of November 10, police received information that a man, identified as Puran Chand (55), son of Dev Raj and resident of Ward No. 2, R.S. Pura was found engulfed in flames in fields near Ring Road. A police team led by SHO Miran Sahib immediately reached the spot, doused the fire with the help of locals, and shifted the badly injured man to GMC Jammu. He later succumbed to his injuries.”
“The deceased was a government employee working as a helper in the Tube-Well Irrigation unit of the Irrigation Department,” he added.
The SSP said that Police registered FIR No. 109/2025 under relevant sections at Police Station Miran Sahib and launched a detailed investigation. A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team was also called to examine the scene and collect scientific evidence. “The CCTV footage obtained during the investigation revealed that Puran Chand had travelled on his motorcycle and was seen at RG Filling Station, Thikrian, R.S. Pura, where he filled petrol in a plastic container. After this, he proceeded towards Miran Sahib.”
“Based on circumstantial, technical, and scientific evidence—including viral videos, technical analysis, CCTV footage, and witness statements—investigators suspect that the deceased may have taken the extreme step due to constant mental harassment, including months of withheld salary, allegedly by some of his senior colleagues,” he said, adding, “During the investigation, police arrested three Irrigation Department employees: Surjeet Kumar, Incharge Ziladar, S/o Bhadur Lal, R/o Deoli, Tehsil Bishnah, Girdhari Lal, Amin, Sub-division R.S. Pura, S/o Pakhu Ram, R/o Salehar, Tehsil Bishnah, Ram Murti @ Sani, Incharge Ziladar, Sub-division R.S. Pura, S/o Kuldeep Singh, R/o Arnia, Tehsil Arnia. Jammu Police said further investigation is underway to establish all angles and responsibilities in the case.”
