Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 15: The 19th NEP Orientation & Sensitization Program, an Eight Day online training initiative under the aegis of the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC) at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra held. This program was conducted as part of the University Grants Commission's (UGC) efforts to facilitate effective implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 through capacity-building and awareness among faculty across higher education institutions. The event witnessed enthusiastic involvement from faculty members across the nation, with large no. of participants registering on the official UGC-MMTTC portal. The inaugural ceremony was marked by an enthusiastic virtual gathering of academic participants and eminent speakers. Prof. Ankush Anand, Program Coordinator and Prof. R. K Mishra Co-Coordinator formally welcomed the participants and faculty members, setting a collaborative tone for the sessions ahead. This was followed by an address by Prof. Sharda Potukuchi, Deputy Director, MMTTC-SMVDU, who provided an insightful overview of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University and its commitment to academic excellence and NEP integration. The program featured prominent resource persons, including Prof. Neelam Panchal, Gujarat University, Dr. Tarun Kumar Tyagi, Director -MMTTC, CUSB, Gaya, Prof. Divya U Joshi, Director -MMTTC- Kumaun University, Prof. Parmod Kumar, CUH, Dr. Akhilesh Kumar, Director -MMTTC, Tezpur University, Tezpur, Prof. Jagdish Joshi, Director, MMTTC, Gujarat University, Dr. Sanjay Kumar, ICSSR, Prof. Preety Jain, KUK, Dr. Soni Tiwari, Ranchi University, Ranchi, Prof. W.C. Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Dhanamanjuri University, Imphal, Prof. Sanjeev K. Sharma ,VC, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University along with the SMVDU team. Prof. Supran K. Sharma, Director, MMTTC-SMVDU, delivered the inaugural speech, wherein he elaborated on the vision of the Malaviya Mission and the pivotal role of NEP 2020 in transforming India's higher education landscape. Prof. Sharma also took the opportunity to extend heartfelt gratitude to Prof. Pragati Kumar, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, SMVDU, for his unwavering support, guidance, and encouragement, which have been instrumental in the successful implementation of MMTTC initiatives. The program focused on several key themes outlined by the UGC under NEP 2020, including Holistic and Multidisciplinary Education, Indian Knowledge Systems, Academic Leadership, Governance and Management, Higher Education and Society, Research and Development, Skill Development, Student Diversity and Inclusive Education, and Information & Communication Technology. These sessions significantly enriched the knowledge of the faculty members, who came from various State and Central Universities, Deemed Universities, Private Institutions, Colleges, and other Higher Education Establishments across India.The program aimed to sensitize faculty to the paradigmatic shift introduced by the NEP and equip them with practical strategies for implementation in their respective institutions. Over the course participants will engage in interactive lectures, panel discussions, and reflective sessions focused on fostering a learner-centric, inclusive, and future-ready academic environment.The MMTTC at SMVDU continues to play a pivotal role in contributing to national goals by empowering faculty through structured training and development initiatives aligned with the vision of the NEP. |
