| DAV College Hosts "Buildathon," Fostering Innovation and Startup Spirit Among School Students | | | CHANDIGARH, Nov 15: Institutions innovation council and Post Graduate Department of Computer Science of D.A.V. College successfully organized a two day inter-school "Buildathon" competition on its campus, transforming it into a vibrant hub of innovation and youthful enterprise. The event saw enthusiastic participation from various of students from various schools across the region, who showcased remarkable models and prototypes centered on the theme of innovation and startups. The college Principal Dr Amardeep Gupta informed that the primary objective of the Buildathon was to provide a platform for young minds to transition from theoretical knowledge to practical application, encouraging them to develop problem-solving skills and an entrepreneurial mindset. The event witnessed a diverse range of innovative projects aimed at addressing real-world challenges. Students presented working models and detailed concepts in areas such as sustainable technology, smart agriculture, healthcare solutions, educational technology, and smart city applications. Notable projects included an AI-based waste segregation system, a low-cost water purification device, an app connecting local farmers directly to consumers, and a VR-based learning module for complex scientific concepts. The atmosphere was charged with creativity as teams worked diligently to perfect their presentations before a panel of esteemed judges, comprising senior faculty members from D.A.V. College and industry experts. IIC Convener Dr Manpreet Kaur added that this Buildathon is a testament to our commitment to nurturing the next generation of thinkers and entrepreneurs. Our goal is to ignite a passion for creation and problem-solving that extends far beyond the classroom. |
