UPES, in association with ISRO, AIAA, ISpA, IN-SPACe & SIA-India, organises a flagship convention to promote aerospace innovation
11/15/2025 10:35:44 PM
DEHRADUN, Nov 15: UPES, today, concluded Renaissance 4.0: International Space Convention 2025, a three-day gathering (13-15 November) hosted by the School of Advanced Engineering (SOAE) and organised by the Infinity Space Club (AIAA Global Student Chapter, Region VII) and recognized ISRO Space Tutor. Across the convention, industry leaders, scientists, researchers and students converged at UPES for focused dialogue, community-building and experiential learning aimed at advancing India's aerospace and space-technology ambitions.
Distinguished participation from the Directors of North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC), and Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), and the Director Generals of Indian Space Association (ISpA) and SIA-India (An Industry for Space Association), highlighted the national significance of the proceedings. The conference explored several important themes, including Aerospace Materials & Manufacturing; Fluid & Thermal Sciences; Advanced Propulsion & Combustion; Space Systems & Exploration; Structural Integrity & Analysis; Flight Dynamics & Control; Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) & Airborne Defence Systems; AI/ML in Aerospace; Aviation Safety & Environmental Sustainability.
Participants engaged in hands-on sessions featuring advanced software tools, practical scientific applications and team-based problem-solving. They showcased learning through student-centred challenges that ran throughout the event - Habitat X advanced design thinking at the intersection of biomimicry, renewable energy and AI regulation; Crisis ISS built teamwork and rapid decision-making through mission-realistic scenarios; and Mayday! Air Crash Investigation strengthened data-driven analysis and collaborative inquiry; complemented by flagship competitions-Cosmic Council (space-themed Model UN); Galactic Code (space hackathon) and Ignitor: Pitch Your Startup-which catalysed discussion on problem statements, prototypes and pathways to implementation.
Speaking at the event, Lt. Gen. Anil Kumar Bhatt, DG, ISpA, said, "Renaissance 4.0 demonstrates a maturing ecosystem-one that measures success not only in launches but in standards, safety and sustainable operations. If Indian students can design for debris mitigation, interoperable systems and mission reliability at the university level, industry will inherit teams that are flight-ready from day one."
Reflecting on the close of the convention, Dr Ram Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, UPES, said, "Renaissance 4.0: International Space Convention 2025 has been a powerful catalyst for the future of Indian aerospace. Bringing together pioneers from ISRO, ISpA, and AIAA allowed us to do more than just discuss space technology; we put our students through the paces with high-stakes challenges. We plan to build a flight-ready workforce by giving them the chance to master collaboration and rapid decision-making now.
Building on the legacy of the National Space Convention (NSC)-launched in 2018 and recognised as a premier platform for industry-academia-research engagement-the 2025 edition maintained a strong emphasis on research translation, workforce readiness and responsible innovation. In line with the convention's research orientation, delegates will get opportunities to publish their work in reputed journals, expanding international visibility and industry linkages.
