Akhnoor, Nov 16: In a momentous tribute to India’s enduring spirit of patriotism, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Akhnoor District hosted a grand celebration to mark the 150th anniversary of the national song Vande Mataram. The event, held simultaneously at Palanwala and Akhnoor, was part of a nationwide program launched by the Central Government to commemorate this historic milestone, coinciding with the upcoming Constitution Day. The celebrations witnessed overwhelming participation from citizens across Akhnoor District, reflecting the region’s deep-rooted love for the nation and its cultural heritage. The program was graced by senior BJP leader and Prabhari of Akhnoor District, Vinay Gupta, along with MLA Mohan Lal Bhagat. The event was meticulously organized by District President Akhnoor, Kuldeep Banotra, DDC Bhushan Bral, Rakesh Malhotra, Shakti Bhagat, Ex-Sarpanch, Mandal President Geeta Rajput, Ex-Sarpanch Pathan Singh, Dipesh Pawar, Gourav Manhas, Ankush Choudhry, Neeraj Shastri, Shamsher Singh, Gulshan Kumar, Bodh Raj (all Mandal Presidents), Rajni Sharma (District President of BJP Mahila Morcha), Suresh Sharma, Chander Shekhar, Parshotam Singh (District President of Kissan Morcha), Puneet Gupta, and other party functionaries in attendance. The gatherings at both venues were marked by vibrant displays of national pride, with participants singing Vande Mataram in unison, pledging allegiance to the motherland, and reaffirming their commitment to India’s unity and progress. Addressing the gathering, BJP senior leader Vinay Gupta highlighted the BJP’s efforts to organize such programs across Akhnoor District to honor the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram. He emphasized that these events are being held in tandem with Constitution Day to instill a sense of national duty among citizens. A key highlight of the program was a collective pledge to promote the use of made-in-India products, aligning with the vision of self-reliance (Atmanirbhar Bharat). He said Vande Mataram, written by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay in the late 19th century, played a pivotal role during the Swadeshi Movement and India’s freedom struggle, urging unity among Indians against colonial oppression. Gupta highlighted its significance as a movement that inspired countless individuals and called on the youth to embrace its enduring message. MLA Mohan Lal Bhagat, in his address, described Vande Mataram as the motto of India’s independence struggle. He recounted how the song galvanized millions of revolutionaries, becoming a symbol of defiance against British rule. “Many freedom fighters marched to the gallows chanting Vande Mataram, facing the brutality of foreign invaders with unwavering courage,” he said. District President Kuldeep Banotra, the driving force behind the event’s success, stated that the celebration symbolized Akhnoor’s unwavering commitment to India’s national identity. “The people of Akhnoor are proud custodians of India’s rich heritage. We have always stood as a pillar of unity and national pride,” he declared.
