Rajouri, Nov 16: The Department of Medicine, Government Medical College Rajouri, successfully concluded its prestigious two-day scientific conference MEDIVISION 2025, organised under the visionary leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Jamil Ul Hussain, Head, Department of Medicine. Held on 14th–15th November, the event drew remarkable participation from faculty members, senior clinicians, postgraduate scholars, and distinguished former professors of GMC Rajouri, making it one of the most impactful academic gatherings hosted by the institution.
The conference was inaugurated by Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) Harleen Kour, whose insightful address highlighted the significance of clinical discipline, teamwork, and continuous academic growth. Her message set a strong and inspiring tone for the two-day deliberations. The presence of retired senior faculty of GMC Rajouri added grace, heritage, and a sense of academic continuity to the inauguration.
This year’s conference revolved around the theme “Emergency Preparedness and Response: A Multidisciplinary Approach,” underlining the critical need for coordinated, cross-specialty collaboration in managing emergencies. The theme emphasised the importance of training healthcare professionals to respond swiftly, effectively, and cohesively during medical crises—an area of growing relevance in today’s healthcare landscape.
The academic sessions witnessed contributions from some of the most respected experts from Jammu & Kashmir, who delivered high-quality lectures and cutting-edge clinical insights. Renowned specialists including Dr. Shoket Chowdhary (Senior Gastroenterologist, Jammu), Dr. J. B. Singh (Senior Physician, Jammu), Dr. Iqbal Bhat (Faculty, ASCOMS), Prof. Abdul Ghani (Senior Orthopaedic Surgeon, GMC Jammu), and Dr. Maqbool Sohil (Director, Interventional Cardiology) enriched the scientific platform with their expertise. Their sessions spanned medicine, cardiology, gastroenterology, orthopaedics, and critical care, offering participants a broad and updated scientific exposure.
Adding further depth to the programme, experienced faculty from various departments of GMC Rajouri delivered specialty-oriented talks, case discussions, and clinical reviews—strengthening the multidisciplinary academic fabric of the conference. Key faculty contributors included Prof. (Dr.) Chander Shekhar (HOD, Gynaecology & Obstetrics), Dr. Syed Shuja Qadri (HOD, Community Medicine), Dr. Nazar (Assistant Professor, Medicine), Dr. Javeed (Assistant Professor, Anaesthesia), Dr. Khalid Usmani (Assistant Professor, Medicine), Dr. Imran Chauhan (Assistant Professor, Medicine), Dr. Parveen (Consultant, Medicine), and Dr. Mudassar Khan (Associate Professor, Surgery) along with other senior faculty members of GMC Rajouri.
A special highlight of MEDIVISION 2025 was the formal release of the book “Drug Addiction – A Silent Killer,” authored by Dr. Syed Shuja Qadri and Prof. (Dr.) Jamil Ul Hussain. The book serves as a comprehensive guide to understanding drug addiction, its far-reaching consequences, and strategic measures for prevention and rehabilitation. With a particular focus on adolescents and children, the book addresses the alarming rise of drug abuse in District Rajouri and underscores the urgent need for awareness, early intervention, and community-based approaches.
The success of the conference was strengthened by the exceptional efforts of Dr. Sameer Abrol (Consultant Medicine), who played a pivotal role throughout the planning and execution phases. His unwavering support, organisational acumen, and behind-the-scenes management made him a backbone of the event, ensuring its smooth and efficient conduct.
The two-day academic conclave concluded with an eloquent valedictory address by Dr. A. S. Bhatia, Principal, GMC Rajouri, who commended the Department of Medicine for curating a deeply enriching, meticulously coordinated scientific event. He emphasised that such academic platforms significantly contribute to enhancing medical knowledge and strengthening the institution’s academic culture.
In his Vote of Thanks, Prof. (Dr.) Jamil Ul Hussain reiterated the importance of regular interdisciplinary CMEs for continuous medical learning. He stressed that such academic collaborations not only refine clinical judgement and update practitioners with emerging medical developments but also enhance the overall quality of patient care across the region.
MEDIVISION 2025 has been widely appreciated for its exceptional coordination, high-quality speakers, and strong scientific content, reaffirming GMC Rajouri’s commitment to academic excellence, collaborative learning, and progressive medical education
