Own Alliance MP exposes Congress' hypocrisy: Gaurav on Ramzan's statement in Parliament
12/1/2025 9:06:42 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 1: BJP J&K spokesperson and Convener of International Affairs, Gaurav Gupta, on Wednesday hit out at the Congress-led I.N.D.I Alliance following National Conference MP Chowdhary Md Ramzan's candid remarks in the Winter Session of Parliament. Speaking on the floor, MP Ramzan stunned the opposition by highlighting a glaring contradiction. He stated that the 2024 Jammu & Kashmir elections were conducted in a free and fair manner, resulting in the NC-Congress alliance securing a two-thirds majority in the Assembly.
"If Congress and its allies repeatedly claim that elections across India are "not free and fair," then how they conveniently overlook that the National Conference and Congress together secured a two-thirds majority in Jammu and Kashmir, forming the government under Omar Abdullah" Gaurav questioned .
Reacting to the statement, Gaurav said that MP Ramzan's remarks expose the hypocrisy of the opposition. "Rahul Gandhi and Congress continue to allege vote rigging, election manipulation, and even implicate the Election Commission, yet their own alliance in Jammu and Kashmir secured a decisive mandate. How can they claim elections are unfair when they themselves benefitted from the democratic process?" Gupta asked.
Gaurav also questioned the credibility of Congress leaders, noting that Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi are already facing FIRs in the National Herald case, yet continue to make baseless allegations about the democratic process. "Ramzan's statement in Parliament today is a reality check for the opposition. Their loud claims of unfair elections are pure political theatre, aimed at misleading citizens, while they reap the rewards of free and fair polls," Gupta said.
Speaking further, Gaurav Gupta described MP Ramzan's statement as not just politically entertaining but also highly revealing. "On one hand, Rahul Gandhi and his party continue to claim that elections are rigged, that votes are stolen, and even implicate the Election Commission in their accusations. On the other hand, their own alliance government in Jammu and Kashmir, headed by Omar Abdullah, enjoyed a clear two-thirds majority, which clearly contradicts their narrative," he said.
Gupta emphasized that such contradictions underscore the consistent double standards of opposition parties, which attack India's democratic institutions for political gain even as they govern with full mandates in states and union territories. "This statement in Parliament today is a reminder to the people of J&K and the country at large that the opposition's claims are purely political theatrics aimed at misleading citizens," Gupta concluded, urging the public to see through the opposition's hypocrisy.
