Many believe the leadership should have focused on grooming existing cadres instead of turning to outsiders for key media roles. Rather than promoting committed party members to handle communication and media responsibilities, the Congress high command has opted to induct non-members into its pool of national spokespersons and media panellists. This decision, insiders say, has left several workers demoralized. Gupta stressed that the Congress is offering a transparent process that allows applicants to submit their profiles online for screening. “Those who qualify will get opportunities at the district, PCC, and even national levels.
