Jammu, Dec 10: Government Degree College Darhal observed Human Rights Day with great enthusiasm, reaffirming its commitment to promoting dignity, equality, and justice for all. The event was organized under the patronage of the Principal, Prof. Zamir Ahmed Mirza, and witnessed active participation from students and faculty members. The programme aimed to create awareness about fundamental rights, global human rights challenges, and the role of youth in fostering a just and inclusive society. A detailed lecture was delivered by faculty members, highlighting the historical background of Human Rights Day, the significance of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and the responsibilities of citizens in safeguarding these rights. Students also participated in discussions, presentations, and interactive sessions, expressing their views on issues such as gender equality, child rights, freedom of expression, and the importance of social justice. Speaking on the occasion, the Principal appreciated the efforts of the organizing team and encouraged students to uphold human values and contribute positively to society. The programme was an initiative of IQAC and NSS wing of the college headed by Dr M Saleem Wani and Dr Mohd Akhlaq respectively. Principal Prof. Zamir Ahmed Mirza also addressed the gathering, highlighting the significance of Human Rights Day in fostering respect and understanding of the Human rights among students and the community. |
