| Traffic police fine 30 vehicles; Rs 55,000 collected, five vehicles seized: DTI Rakesh Kumar | | | Early Times Report KATHUA, Dec 10: The Rural Traffic Police on Wednesday launched a special drive against traffic violators and challaned 30 vehicles, realising a fine of ?55,000 for various violations. The team also seized four motorcycles and one car found plying without valid documents, and issued challans to two vehicles using pressure horns. The drive was conducted under the directions of SSP Rural Farooq Qaiser and led by DTI Kathua Inspector Rakesh Kumar. The checking was carried out along the Jammu-Pathankot National Highway and adjoining routes in Kathua. During the operation, several vehicles were found violating different traffic norms, prompting immediate penal action. The seized vehicles were taken into custody for lacking mandatory documentation. Inspector Rakesh Kumar said that strict action would continue against traffic violators and urged heavy vehicle drivers to avoid overloading. "Traffic violators will not be spared at any cost. We appeal to drivers, especially heavy vehicle operators, to follow traffic rules, otherwise strict legal action will be taken against them under law he added. The traffic team also educated drivers and commuters about road safety norms during the drive. |
