Early Times Report
MATHURA, Jan 7: The government led by PM Modi is working continuously at all levels to give opportunities to talented sportsmen, Mathura MP Hema Malini said today. While inaugurating the Sansad Khel Mahotsava at Mohan Pehalwan Sports stadium she said that we have built a sports ecosystem, under the leadership of PM Modi, which runs on Merit and not on approach. The irregularities in the selection of sportsmen before 2014 are being checked now, and even players from disadvantaged backgrounds are being selected and are coming into the mainstream. Their hard work and merit are being rewarded now, she added.
India's sports budget, which was less than 1200 crores before 2014, is now more than 3000 crores. Players are getting financial support of 25 thousand to 50 thousand under the target Olympic podium scheme, Hema Malini said. The schemes are benefiting our players, and they are performing extraordinarily in major tournaments, she added.
Only Healthy and empowered India will build Viksit Bharat; therefore, our government has taken some innovative steps, like Sansad Khel Mahotsava and Fit India Movement, with the motive to make fit Yuva for Viksit Bharat, Mathura MP said.
Actor-turned-politician Hema Malini said that the Sansad Khel Mahotsava is providing opportunities even to players from rural areas. There are several examples from remote areas that are inspiring others. The program may help in finding the players, in their training, and bringing them at the national level, for the commonwealth games and the Olympic Games. She added.
Hema Malini said that Youth from my constituency and especially the girl child, are very talented. "They have made a mark in fencing and wrestling at the national and international level, " she added.
She also wished that youth from Mathura, especially girls, may participate in the Commonwealth Games and the Olympics and win medals, and make a name for the district.
