AKHNOOR, Jan 7: Veterans Day was commemorated at Akhnoor with great patriotic fervour, bringing together ex-servicemen and serving defence personnel to honour the indomitable spirit of the nation's brave warriors. The celebrations reflected deep respect for those who have dedicated their lives to the service of the country.
As part of the event, the Dhruv Motorcycle Rally, symbolising the glorious saga of martyrs and carrying the torch of remembrance, reached Akhnoor on January 6, 2026, from Nagrota. A solemn wreath-laying ceremony was organised at the Akhnoor War Memorial, where heartfelt tributes were paid to the fallen heroes.
Senior officials from the administration and the armed forces interacted warmly with veterans, fostering a sense of camaraderie and providing a platform to share memories of valour and service. Emphasising the welfare of ex-servicemen, a dedicated medical camp was organised, offering comprehensive health check-ups. In addition, blood pressure monitoring machines were distributed to support regular health management.
