Jammu, Jan 29: Continuing its sustained crackdown against bovine smuggling under Operation Kamdhenu, Jammu (Rural) Police successfully foiled a bovine smuggling attempt and rescued a large number of animals. During the intervening night of 28/29.01.2026, a police team of Police Station Jhajjar Kotli intercepted a vehicle at Naka Point Panjal, which was involved in the illegal transportation of bovines. As a result, 21 bovine animals were rescued, and one truck bearing registration number JK03M-0343 was seized. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Mukhtyiar Ahmed, son of Sadiq Ahmed, resident of Hardware, Kokernag, Anantnag, was taken into custody. Accordingly, FIR No. 15/2026 under Section 223 BNS and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act has been registered at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli. Further investigation is underway.
