Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 29: The Member of Legislative Assembly from the Nagrota Assembly Constituency, Ms. Devyani Singh Rana, visited IGNOU Regional Centre Jammu today to interact with the final-year students of M.Sc. Environmental Science. The visit took place during the crucial project viva- voce examinations, where students presented their research dissertations on various ecological, pollution control, and sustainability topics. The event saw enthusiastic participation from Regional Centre functionaries, students, Coordinators, Programme Incharges, evaluators, examiners, local masses, and other stakeholders of the University. The event commenced with the welcome address by Dr. Sandeep Gupta, Regional Director, who termed the visit of young MLA as inspiring for students. Dr. Zeba, Assistant Regional Director, coordinated the event. Dr. Asha Upadhya, Deputy Director, and Dr. Vikram Singh, Assistant Regional Director, welcomed the Chief Guest with Bouquet, plant sapling and memento. Dr. Sandeep Gupta briefed the attendees about the initiatives and achievements of IGNOU Regional Centre Jammu and also of the University in a larger perspective in the year 2025. During the visit, MLA Devyani Rana interacted directly with the budding environmentalists, discussing practical solutions for local environmental issues such as waste management, water pollution, environmental upkeep, and urban greening. She said it is inspiring to see the next generation focusing on science-based solutions for our ecological challenges, and termed these projects submitted by the students as not just the academic requirements, but as the valuable instruments offering actionable insights that can assist our local administration in making environmentally responsible decisions. The interaction highlighted the importance of bridging the gap between academic research and policy implementation.
