New Delhi, Feb 1: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said that the Union Budget 2026-27 lays down a long-term development framework for the next 25 years, combining inclusive growth with economic stability and reaffirming the Modi government’s commitment to building a self-reliant and globally competitive India. In a series of posts on X, Amit Shah, stated, “Through Budget 2026-27, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has demonstrated that Atmanirbhar and Viksit Bharat are not just slogans, but the firm resolve of the government. This budget provides a clear blueprint to empower every sector, class, and citizen, while also offering on-ground support to help them progress at every step. The Viksit Bharat Budget envisions an India leading the world across all domains.” Shah further highlighted the sectoral impact of the budget, saying, “From manufacturing to infrastructure, healthcare to tourism, rural areas to AI, sports to pilgrimage — the Viksit Bharat Budget strengthens the dreams of youth, women, and farmers in every village, town, and city. This budget lays the roadmap for building a developed India by 2047.” On economic momentum and reforms post-COVID, he added, “The Indian economy has gained strong traction under PM Modi’s visionary leadership. #ViksitBharatBudget accelerates this momentum further, positioning India as the world’s most attractive investment destination for both traditional and emerging sectors.” Focusing on agriculture and rural economy, Shah outlined the government’s plans, “The budget takes far-sighted measures to increase farmers’ income through livestock development, with more veterinarians and expanded veterinary and training centres. Credit-linked subsidies for dairy and poultry, development of 500 water bodies for fisheries, and opening global markets for produce will be milestones in enhancing farmers’ income.” Shah also emphasized the historic launch of the Mahatma Gandhi Gram Swaraj Yojana, “This initiative realises Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of village self-reliance, strengthens the rural economy, and provides new support to weavers, farmers, and the handloom sector. Schemes like the Coconut Promotion Scheme benefiting three crore farmers, promoting cashew and cocoa production and exports, and sandalwood conservation reflect the government’s strong commitment to profitable and sustainable agriculture.” On infrastructure, the Home Minister highlighted, “The budget will give unprecedented momentum to connectivity with seven high-speed rail corridors announced today, aimed at transforming inter-city travel and significantly reducing travel time across key economic and population centres.” Amit Shah congratulated the Prime Minister and Finance Minister, “I congratulate PM Modi Ji on the remarkable landmark set by the #ViksitBharatBudget. It reaffirms the government’s commitment to growth with fiscal prudence, successfully keeping the fiscal deficit below 4.5%.” The Home Minister said that the Viksit Bharat Budget charts India’s journey to global leadership while ensuring inclusive growth, modern infrastructure, and strengthened rural and agricultural economies across the country. |
