Udhampur police foils three bovine smuggling attempts at Majalta; 23 bovines rescued

UDHAMPUR, Feb 17: Udhampur Police foiled three bovine smuggling attempts during naka checking at Battal Naka Point (Majalta) and rescued 23 bovines.
Case-1: Vehicle No. JK14J-1477 (Mahindra) was intercepted and 07 bovines were found loaded in a cruel manner. The accused Mohd. Arshad S/O Nek Alam R/O Baryalta, Majalta was arrested on the spot for failing to produce valid permission.
FIR No. 15/2026 U/S 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act stands registered.
Case-2:-
At Battal Naka Point, police party intercepted vehicle No. JK14K-5886 during routine checking. Upon inspection, 07 bovines were found illegally transported towards Kashmir valley.
Accordingly, FIR No. 17/2026 U/S 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered and investigation is in progress.
Case-3:- In another action at Battal Naka Point, vehicle No. JK19A-8392 was intercepted and 09 bovines were found loaded in a cruel and illegal manner. The accused fled from the spot taking advantage of darkness. FIR No. 18/2026 U/S 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered and efforts are on to identify and apprehend the accused. Further investigation in all cases is underway.
