Friendly Cricket Match organised at GDC Nagrota to Raise Awareness on Drug Abuse and HIV/ AIDS

NAGROTA, Feb 17: Under the aegis of IQAC, Red Ribbon Club in collaboration with NSS Unit of Government Degree College (GDC) Nagrota organized a spirited and friendly cricket match between the faculty and students. The event aimed to promote healthy lifestyle and encourage youth to stay away from substance abuse and importance of HIV/ AIDS prevention. The event was held on the college grounds and witnessed enthusiastic participation, fostering camaraderie and sportsmanship within the institution. The match commenced with the Principal of the College, Prof. Anjali Mahajan, formally flagging off both the teams and encouraged them to participate with the spirit of fairplay and sportsmanship. The Team faculty won the toss and elected to bat first, setting the challenging score of 88 in 10 overs. Team Student chased the score confidently but could only score 78 runs. The game was marked by exciting batting performances, sharp fielding, and moments of laughter that highlighted the friendly nature of the competition. Mr. Rahul Kumar was declared Man of the Match for his remarkable performance. Faculty members, balancing experience with strategy, faced off against the youthful vigour and enthusiasm of the students. Prof. Arvind Sharma scored 39 runs in 19 balls and was the highest scorer among faculty. Such initiatives reflect college's commitment to promote physical fitness, teamwork and holistic development of the students.
