Early Times Report VIJAYPUR, Feb 17: Government Degree College Vijaypur organized a vibrant Mehandi Competition on 13th February 2026 to select talented students for participation in Goonj-2026 organized by the University of Jammu on 26th and 27th of February 2026. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students who showcased their artistic creativity and intricate henna designs. The competition aimed at encouraging traditional art forms and providing a platform for students to display their cultural talents. Participants demonstrated exceptional skill, creativity, and precision in their designs, reflecting both contemporary patterns and traditional motifs. The event was adjudged by esteemed jury members, Prof Ritu Bhagat (Convenor Cultural Committee), and Prof. Meetu Sharma (Head Department of Geography), who carefully evaluated the participants on the basis of creativity, neatness, originality, and overall presentation. After careful evaluation, Ruhi and Shashi Bala, students of B.A. Semester II, were selected to represent the college at the Goonj Festival. The event was coordinated smoothly under the guidance of Prof. Manisha Bharti (Head Department of Computer Applications) and Prof. Sonia Devi (Head Department of Hindi) whose efforts ensured the successful conduct of the competition. Principal Prof. Ashu Vashisht appreciated the enthusiastic participation of students and lauded the efforts of the organizing committee. In her address, she emphasized the importance of cultural activities in nurturing creativity, confidence, and holistic development among students. She also extended her best wishes to the selected students who will represent the college at the prestigious Goonj-2026. |
