Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 17: In its sustained drive against drug trafficking, Jammu Police, South Zone achieved another success by seizing heroin (chitta) during routine patrolling in the Gangyal Industrial Area and arresting two drug peddlers. The operation was conducted under the overall supervision of SSP Jammu, under the guidance of SP South and close supervision of SDPO South. On 17.02.2026 at about 18:00 hours, a police team of Police Station Gangyal led by PSI Atta-ur-Rehman and PSI Arun Sharma, along with HC Inderpaul Singh, Sgct. Manpreet Singh, SPO Tarseem Lal, SPO Rohit and driver Sgct. Mohd. Ishaq, was on patrolling duty near the Power Grid Station, opposite Bosh Service Complex, Gangyal Industrial Area. During patrolling, two persons were intercepted on suspicion. They were identified as: Jaswinder Singh @ Kaka S/o Balwant Singh R/o Digiana Camp, Jammu Nitin Kumar @ Nitin S/o Satnam Kumar R/o Bambyal, District Pathankot, Punjab Approximately 14-15 grams of heroin (chitta) along with a digital weighing machine was recovered from Jaswinder Singh, and 6-7 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from Nitin Kumar. Accordingly, FIR No. 22/2026 under Sections 8/21/22/29/27(a) NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Gangyal. Both accused have been arrested and further investigation has been entrusted to PSI Arun Sharma to trace backward and forward linkages. Jammu Police reiterates its firm commitment to eradicate the menace of drugs and appeals to the public to share information related to drug trafficking. |
