Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 19: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to launch an aggressive nationwide campaign against the Indian National Congress following the defeat of the Women’s Reservation Bill in the Lok Sabha, with a special focus on Jammu and Kashmir.
As part of the campaign rollout, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, accompanied by Rajya Sabha member and former National Commission for Women Chairperson Rekha Sharma, arrived in Jammu on Saturday to spearhead the party’s outreach and mobilization efforts in the Union Territory.
According to BJP sources, the party leadership views the defeat of the Women’s Reservation Bill as a significant setback and is preparing to take the issue directly to the public through a series of public meetings, press interactions, and grassroots-level campaigns across the country.
In Jammu and Kashmir, the campaign is expected to be particularly intense, with senior leaders engaging party workers and addressing public gatherings to highlight what the BJP terms as the Congress party’s “anti-women stance.”
Sources further revealed that, apart from organizing rallies and awareness drives, the BJP leadership is also seriously considering holding protests outside the residences of senior Congress leaders in Jammu and Kashmir. The move, if finalized, is aimed at mounting direct political pressure and drawing public attention to the issue.
Party insiders said detailed programmes are being finalized for different districts of the Union Territory, with an emphasis on mobilizing women workers and reaching out to grassroots communities.
The campaign is likely to gather momentum in the coming days as more senior BJP leaders are expected to visit Jammu and Kashmir to participate in the drive.
