Early Times Report JAMMU, May 13: Indian Red Cross Society, J&K under the leadership of Hon'ble Lt. Governor, Sh. Manoj Sinha (Hon'ble President, IRCS, J&K-UT) and supervision of Sh. Rohit Khajuria, General Secretary, IRCS, J&K is undertaking a significant humanitarian mission to help the society in different areas of J&K. Today, on13th May, 2026 IRCS, J&K has conducted series of activities: World Nursing Day:- The Indian Red Cross Society organized a one-day First Aid training programme with special focus on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) at Carmel Convent School for the students and staff members of the institution on the occasion of World Nursing Day celebrations. The programme was conducted with the objective of creating awareness about life-saving techniques and equipping participants with essential emergency response skills. During the training session, Dr. Manpreet Kour, Medical Officer, and Ms. Vironica Marwah, Field Officer of IRCS J&K, gave detailed demonstrations on CPR techniques, first aid response, and emergency handling procedures. The participants were educated about the importance of timely medical assistance during emergencies such as cardiac arrest, choking, unconsciousness, and other accidental situations. The trainers also conducted practical demonstrations and interactive sessions to help students and staff understand the correct methods of administering CPR and providing immediate first aid before professional medical help arrives. The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from the students and teaching staff, who actively engaged in the hands-on training activities. Speaking on the occasion, the officials emphasized that awareness and knowledge of CPR can save precious lives during critical situations and highlighted the significant role played by nurses and healthcare workers in serving humanity with dedication and compassion. They also encouraged educational institutions to regularly organize such awareness programmes for students and staff. The Principal of Carmel Convent School appreciated the initiative taken by the Indian Red Cross Society, J&K-UT, and expressed gratitude to the resource persons for conducting such an informative and practical session for the students and staff. The Principal stated that such programmes are highly beneficial in preparing students to respond effectively during emergencies and also help in developing a sense of social responsibility and humanitarian service among the younger generation. The school administration further appreciated the dedicated efforts of the Indian Red Cross Society in spreading awareness about first aid and life-saving skills across educational institutions and the community. Students of A Model Institute of Education visited Red Cross Bhawan, Jammu:- The Indian Red Cross Society welcomed the students of A Model Institute of Education at Red Cross Bhawan, Jammu, during an educational visit organized to provide students knowledge about the humanitarian activities and services being carried out by the Red Cross. During the visit, Dr. Rita Kumari, Medical Officer, briefed the students about the various programmes and welfare activities undertaken by the Indian Red Cross Society in the field of healthcare, first aid training, disaster management, blood donation awareness, relief distribution, youth welfare, and community service. She also highlighted the role of the Red Cross in responding to emergencies and serving vulnerable sections of society with dedication and humanity. |
