Early Times Report REASI, May 13: Continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking and substance abuse under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, Reasi Police, under the supervision of SSP Reasi Sh. Mukund Tibrewal, IPS, achieved another success by apprehending a drug peddler and recovering heroin-like contraband substance from his possession. On 11-06-2026, a police party of Police Station Katra laid a naka/checking point near Gate No. 1, SMVDU. During checking, one person identified as Surinder Kumar S/o Late Munshi Ram R/o Kandyar, Tehsil Katra, District Reasi, who was travelling in an Auto bearing Registration No. JK20C-2016 from Sool side towards Kotla, was intercepted for checking. During the search, heroin weighing approximately 5.55 grams was recovered from his possession. The accused was immediately taken into custody and the contraband substance was seized as per legal procedures. In this regard, a case FIR No. 144/2026 under sections 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Katra and further investigation into the matter has been initiated. The entire operation was carried out by SHO P/S Katra Insp. Ranjeet Singh Rao, under the close supervision of SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubey, JKPS, and SP Katra Kameshwar Puri, JKPS. Reasi Police remains committed towards eradicating the menace of drugs from society and appeals to the general public to cooperate with Police by sharing any information related to drug peddling or narcotics activities in their areas. |
