Doda police recovered online defrauded amount, 74 Smartphones

DODA, May 13: In a major achievement against cybercrime, Cyber Police Station Doda of District Police Doda has successfully recovered online defrauded money amounting to Rs. 21,20,739/- and also traced and recovered 74 lost smartphones valued at approximately Rs. 12,68,500/- from different States and UTs across the country.
The recovery was made under the supervision of SSP Doda Kartik Shrotriya-IPS, Addl. SP Doda Shri Mohd Aslam-JKPS and DySP Headquarters Doda Shri Krishan Rattan. Cyber Police Station Doda once again exhibited a high level of professionalism, dedication and technical expertise in combating cybercrime and providing timely relief to the victims.
As per the statement issued by District Police Doda, Cyber Police Station Doda had received several complaints related to online financial frauds and missing/lost mobile phones from different complainants. Acting promptly on the complaints, the Cyber Police team conducted sustained investigation and technical analysis which led to the successful recovery of the defrauded amount as well as the lost smartphones.
The investigation was carried out by the team headed by Inspector Surinder Veer Singh, SHO Cyber Police Station Doda, along with PSI Harish Chander, Nodal Officer CEIR, whose persistent efforts and advanced technical skills played a key role in achieving the recoveries.
The recovered smartphones were later handed over to their rightful owners at Conference Hall PCR Doda by Addl. SP Doda Shri Mohd Aslam-JKPS. The beneficiaries expressed happiness and gratitude towards District Police Doda for tracing and recovering their lost mobile phones.
While interacting with the public, Addl. SP Doda advised people to remain cautious while using mobile phones and online financial platforms, as mobile devices contain valuable personal information which can be misused if lost or stolen. He further appealed to the public to immediately report cyber fraud incidents on National Cyber Crime Helpline Number 1930 or through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal. Citizens were also advised to report lost or stolen mobile phones on the CEIR Portal for timely tracing and blocking of devices.
It is pertinent to mention that Cyber Police Station Doda has so far successfully recovered online defrauded money amounting to Rs. 85,04,408/- and also traced and recovered 393 mobile phones worth approximately Rs. 62,48,500/-.
