Police seized heroin like substance at Galak Ramkot

KATHUA, May 13: Continuing its efforts against drug menace, J&K Police Kathua under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua Ms. Mohita Sharma IPS recovered/ seized approx. 7.22 grams of Heroin (Chitta) like narcotics in the jurisdictional area of PP Ramkot (PS Billawar), 02 narco smugglers arrested and one vehicle was seized.
On 13-05-2026, acting on the intelligent input received through a reliable source, a Police team led by IC PP Ramkot under the supervision of SP Ops. Upper Kathua, SDPO Billawar & SHO PS Billawar laid down a special naka/ checking at Galak area and apprehended two persons namely 1. Sidharth S/o Parveen Kumar Gupta R/o Mandli District Kathua 2. Davinder Kumar S/o Diwan Chand R/o Makwal Tehsil Ramkot Kathua who were enrouted on vehicle bearing Reg. No. JK08R-3184 from Dinga Amb side towards Galak under suspicious circumstances. During Checking approx. 1.41 Grams Heroin like substance recovered from the Sidharth S/o Parveen Kumar Gupta R/o Mandli and approx. 5.81 Grams Heroin recovered from the Davinder Kumar S/o Diwan Chand R/o Makwal Tehsil Ramkot District Kathua thus by making a total of approx. 7.22 grams of heroin (Chitta) like substance recovered from their possession. The recovered contraband along with vehicle used in the commission of crime was seized and accused persons were taken into police custody on spot. In this connection, further investigation is in progress vide FIR No. 87/2026 U/S 8/21/22/29/ NDPS Act, PS Billawar.
Kathua Police again request people of the area to come forward and share information about any such illicit activity with Police on 112 or 9858034100 for the cause. Your identity will be kept confidential.
