Jammu, May 31: The Jammu Chapter of the Indian Yoga Association (IYA) successfully organized the 4th session of the 40-day Countdown Programme to International Yoga Day 2026 at Rana Rajinder Singh Park, Rehari. The programme was conducted under the chairmanship of Dr. Shreyansh Kumar Jain, State Chairman, Indian Yoga Association, J&K Chapter, while Shri Ashok Gupta, General Secretary, IYA, presided over the session. The programme was skillfully managed by Sh. Sudha Chander Sharma, Senior Vice President, IYA, who warmly welcomed the participants and introduced the distinguished dignitaries present on the occasion. Addressing the gathering, Shri Ashok Gupta highlighted the objectives, activities, and achievements of the Indian Yoga Association. He explained the theme of the session and emphasized the importance of yoga as a way of life. He also demonstrated and conducted an engaging session of Hasya Yoga (Laughter Yoga), which created a joyful and energetic atmosphere among the participants. The significance of Ashtanga Yoga, with its eight-fold path for holistic development, was also elaborated upon. Dr. Shreyansh Kumar Jain led the participants through a comprehensive yoga session comprising Yogasanas, Pranayama, Meditation, and Vedic Prayer, following the prescribed protocol of the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India. He emphasized that regular yoga practice is one of the most effective ways to maintain physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Dr. Jain also shared a series of valuable health tips aimed at helping individuals remain healthy, energetic, and disease-free. These included adopting a balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables, drinking adequate water, maintaining regular physical activity, practicing yoga and meditation daily, ensuring adequate sleep, avoiding tobacco, alcohol and processed foods, managing stress effectively, maintaining personal hygiene, undergoing regular health check-ups, spending time in nature, cultivating positive thinking, strengthening social relationships, and practicing gratitude.
He stressed that preventive healthcare through healthy lifestyle choices is the key to long-term wellness and freedom from lifestyle disorders. Shri Narinder Wadhera actively participated in the programme and demonstrated various Yogasanas and Pranayama techniques, motivating participants to incorporate yoga into their daily routine. At the conclusion of the programme, Shri Subhash Chander Sharma, a senior and esteemed member of the Indian Yoga Association, presented a heartfelt vote of thanks. He expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, yoga practitioners, and participants for their enthusiastic involvement and support in making the event a grand success. The programme concluded with a collective resolve to continue spreading awareness about the benefits of yoga and to encourage greater public participation in the upcoming celebrations of International Yoga Day 2026. |
