| Free OPD services by Guru Ravidass Sabha to benefit poor, needy: Prof. O P Bhagat | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 31: In a significant step towards strengthening community healthcare services, All J&K Shree Guru Ravidass Sabha, Head Office Krishna Nagar, Jammu, has launched free charitable OPD dispensary services for the poor and needy sections of society. The initiative aims to provide quality medical consultation through experienced doctors from various specialties. The free OPD services were formally inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) O.P. Bhagat, former Head of the Department of Orthopaedics, Government Medical College Jammu, who cut the ribbon and also examined patients suffering from orthopaedic ailments during the inaugural session. The function witnessed enthusiastic participation from people belonging to different walks of life, including retired officers, engineers, doctors, youth and women. Addressing the gathering, Prof. O.P. Bhagat described the initiative as a timely and much-needed service, especially in view of the rising cost of healthcare. He said that quality medical care has become increasingly expensive, making it difficult for economically weaker sections to access proper treatment. He expressed confidence that the free OPD would emerge as a major support system for marginalized communities. Prof. Bhagat further stated that the Sabha plans to gradually expand the services by introducing free medicines, basic laboratory facilities and other ancillary healthcare services. He also emphasized efforts to involve specialists from fields such as cardiology, psychiatry, pain management and other disciplines to ensure comprehensive healthcare for patients. Speaking on the occasion, Er. R.C. Bhasin, President of All J&K Shree Guru Ravidass Sabha, expressed gratitude to the team of doctors who have volunteered their services for the welfare of society. He informed that the unfinished dispensary complex within the Guru Ravidass Bhawan premises would be completed in due course of time, enabling the establishment of a full-fledged polyclinic for the benefit of poor and needy people. The Sabha appealed to the public to avail themselves of the free medical facilities, which will commence from June 1, 2026, and remain available daily from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. |
