Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 3: As part of its sustained efforts to eradicate the menace of drug abuse and promote a healthy, responsible, and drug-free society, District Police Jammu organized a Drug Awareness Programme in the Purani Mandi and Parade areas of Old City Jammu.
The programme was conducted under the ongoing anti-drug campaign of Jammu Police and witnessed the participation of senior police officers, students, teachers, community leaders, and members of the general public. Among others, SSP Jammu Joginder Singh, SP City North, SDPO City North, and other officers of District Police Jammu were present on the occasion.
The primary objective of the programme was to educate the public, particularly the youth, about the harmful effects of drug addiction and to encourage collective action against the growing threat of substance abuse. During the awareness session, resource persons and police officers highlighted the severe physical, psychological, social, and economic consequences of drug abuse. Participants were sensitized about the importance of making informed life choices, resisting peer pressure, and seeking timely assistance in cases of addiction.
Addressing the gathering and media persons, SSP Jammu emphasized the critical role of community participation in the fight against drugs. He urged parents, educational institutions, and civil society organizations to work closely with law enforcement agencies in identifying vulnerable individuals and preventing the spread of drug abuse among the youth.
SSP Jammu also apprised the participants of the various initiatives being undertaken by Jammu Police under its anti-drug campaign and reiterated the department's commitment to taking stringent action against drug peddlers and traffickers. At the same time, he stressed the importance of rehabilitation, counselling, and awareness measures to help affected individuals reintegrate into society.
The programme concluded with a collective pledge and an appeal to all stakeholders to join hands in creating a drug-free environment and safeguarding the future of the younger generation.
District Police Jammu remains committed to its mission of building a safe, healthy, and drug-free society through sustained enforcement, awareness, and community engagement initiatives.
