JAMMU, June 11: In a significant breakthrough against property crimes, Police Station Bakshi Nagar has successfully solved a theft case involving the theft of DVRs and allied equipment from BSNL telecom towers in the Shakti Nagar area and recovered stolen property worth approximately Rs 4.5 lakh.
The case came to light after representatives and officials of BSNL approached Police Station Bakshi Nagar with a complaint regarding the theft of DVRs from telecom tower installations located in the Shakti Nagar area. Taking immediate cognizance of the matter, FIR No. 69/2026 under Section 303(2) BNS was registered and investigation was launched without delay.
Under the overall supervision of SDPO City West, a dedicated investigation team comprising PSI Abhimanyu, HC Mohd Arshid Hussain and other police personnel immediately commenced technical and field investigation, including a detailed analysis of CCTV footage from the areas surrounding the places of occurrence.
During the course of investigation, the team developed a vital lead regarding the involvement of a Swift car suspected to have been used in the commission of the crime. Acting swiftly on the lead, the vehicle was traced and one accused was apprehended from Raghunath Bazaar.
The sustained interrogation of the accused, coupled with further technical investigation, revealed the involvement of two additional associates in the commission of the offence. Acting upon the disclosures made by the arrested accused, police teams conducted raids at Raghunath Bazaar and Beli Charana.
The raids were carried out by SHO Bakshi Nagar along with PSI Abhimanyu, PSI Amir Syed, HC Mohd Arshid Hussain and the investigating team. During the operation, six stolen DVRs, wires, tools and other equipment connected with the commission of the offence were recovered.
The total value of the recovered property has been assessed at approximately Rs 4.5 lakh. Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the remaining accused persons and to ascertain their involvement in any other similar offences.
The swift detection of the case, arrest of the accused and substantial recovery of stolen property within a short span of time reflect the commitment, professionalism and vigilance of Police Station Bakshi Nagar in safeguarding public property and ensuring the security of critical infrastructure. Police Station Bakshi Nagar remains committed to maintaining law and order and appeals to the general public to remain vigilant and promptly share information regarding any suspicious activity with the nearest police station or through emergency helplines.
