| ETTI organises capacity building programme for Excise officials | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 11: In order to enhance the capacity building of Excise officers/officials in the field of Narcotic control and conviction, a specialized one-day training programme on the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was successfully conducted at the Excise and Taxation Training Institute (ETTI), Nagrota under the guidance of worthy Excise Commissioner Vaibhav Kohli, JKAS. In the inaugural session, Principal ETTI, Priyanka Bhat, extended a warm welcome to the Worthy Excise Commissioner expressing her gratitude for gracing the programme. She also welcomed and thanked Assistant Director of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and his team of experts for collaborating on this initiative by the training Institute. She added that the workshop is aimed to enhance the operational capabilities of departmental officers and officials in effectively tackling challenges related to illicit drug trafficking and psychotropic substances. The Sessions of the programme were conducted by a team of experts from Narcotic Control Bureau (NCB), Jammu under the supervision of Sh. Sachin Guleria, Assistant Director, NCB who also shared his experiences and gave useful inputs and insights. The team covered the incorporated modules and discussed core legal provisions, recent procedural updates, successful case studies and an interactive Q&A session addressing field-level operational hurdles. A special felicitation ceremony was also held during the event to honour and reward departmental officials Arun Kumar (Excise Inspector) and Araf Choudhary (Excise Inspector) for their exemplary contributions in the field of enforcement under NDPS Act. Interacting with the participants the Worthy Excise Commissioner discussed the critical role of continuous capacity building and seamless inter-agency coordination to ensure rigorous enforcement of the NDPS Act. He also commended the Institute's proactive initiative, reiterating the department's commitment to strengthen enforcement frameworks. The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Roopali Sadotra, ETO, and ETTI. |
