| For SP, Saifai is its family; for me, UP is home, its 25 crore people are my family: CM | | | Early Times Report
Unnao, June 18: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, “The work done by the double-engine government in the last 12 years at the Centre and nine years in Uttar Pradesh could not be achieved by the Congress and Samajwadi Party governments because they were corrupt and lacked capability. These parties thought only about their families and not about the poor.” He said, “Congress never thought beyond the Nehru-Gandhi family, while for the SP only Saifai was its family. In contrast, Prime Minister Narendra Modi considers India his home and 140 crore Indians his family.” The Chief Minister added that Uttar Pradesh is his home and its 25 crore people are members of his family, and working for their prosperity is his mission. The Chief Minister was addressing a public gathering after inaugurating and laying foundation stones for 101 development projects worth more than Rs 570 crore. During the programme held at Gram Panchayat Deeh, Bhawani Khera Chauraha, Hindu Khera in Unnao, he visited an exhibition and performed the annaprashan ceremony for children. He also informed people that the capacity of the Police Training School built in memory of martyr Veer Gulab Singh Lodhi has been doubled. The Chief Minister said, “During the SP government, whenever the poor or opposition parties raised their voice, goons and mafias suppressed them and created lawlessness by kidnapping traders. The terror of Khar-Dushan, Marich and Subahu during the Ramayana era must have been similar to the terror created by SP-backed mafias.” He added that Congress and SP leaders are never seen shedding tears for the poor, but they do so when mafias die. According to him, despite ruling for long periods, both parties are responsible for pushing the country and the state into decline. The Chief Minister described Unnao as a land of spirituality, literature and revolution. He paid tribute to local spiritual centres, literary figures and freedom fighters. He also remembered the contributions of former Assembly Speaker Hriday Narayan Dikshit. He said, “When India’s identity was under threat during British rule, freedom fighters Raja Rambaksh Singh and Veer Gulab Singh Lodhi made supreme sacrifices and weakened the foundations of British rule.” |
