Behind every drug addiction lies a story of lost potential, broken families, and shattered dreams. Drug abuse, once considered a distant problem, has now become a harsh reality affecting people of all ages and backgrounds.Jammu and Kashmir, too, has witnessed a concerning increase in drug addiction, particularly among the youth. Experts and health officials have repeatedly highlighted the growing number of individuals seeking treatment for substance dependence, underscoring the urgent need for awareness, early intervention, and rehabilitation. Besides affecting physical and mental health, drug abuse contributes to crime, unemployment, family disputes, and the loss of human potential. Combating this menace requires collective efforts from families, educational institutions, healthcare professionals, law enforcement agencies, and society as a whole. Recognizing the gravity of the issue, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has launched the ‘Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan’, a comprehensive campaign aimed at creating awareness, strengthening rehabilitation facilities, and curbing drug trafficking. The initiative promotes community participation, counselling services, and coordinated action by educational institutions, law enforcement agencies, and healthcare professionals. However, eradicating the menace of drugs requires not only government efforts but also active involvement of families, schools, and society at large. Only through collective responsibility and sustained awareness can a healthier and drug-free future be ensured for the younger generation. |
